I have both a CA and a BD super 8 - and the CA doesn't overheat on long rappels. I've had it for a bunch of years, and anyone who can use a figure of 8 can use it, unlike the ATC's Grigri's etc that require instruction before use.

I have narrow feet with a very long second toe, and these shoes fit me well without having to size them small. I've used them more on rock than the gym. I had no of the grip issues others have mentioned, but then the rock on table Mountain, Cape Town, is a gritty sandstone. I wore them all morning on Atlantic Crag and Arrow Final with no confidence issues, even on my 1st trad climb.

I think they offer good value for money if you already have another couple of pairs of climbing shoes, narrow feet and climb high friction rock or gym surfaces.

These was my first climbing shoes, and they spent a lot of time in the gym before they were retired. Perhaps too technical for a beginner, in retrospect, but they certainly got me going.

The toes are impossibly compressed though, so they were too uncomfortable for extended periods on rock and let to the purchase of other "more sensible" shoes.

I've used these for sport climbing now for about 3 years. I've never had any kind of issue with them. I really, really like the wire gates and the low weight.
