I think the mentality here is that since Owens is basically a "sport climbing area," nobody will do the route unless they can do it with quickdraws; however, unbolted cracks do exist there as well and do see ascents. I've done the route, I clipped the bolts, so I can't say anything more about it without being a hypocrite.

Thanks for the kind words on my artistry. I haven't been back to that route since this photo was taken some FIVE or maybe even SIX years ago. Funny, but I think it has gone all THAT time and LONGER without being chopped. I guess that means it is very controversial. Maybe one of you talkers should get off your butt, grab a crowbar, and put your money where your mouth is. Of course, I'm just trying re-stir the hornet's nest. I should mention that this route does "require" gear during the wider (and easier) sections (up to 1.5" or so) to supplement the 6 bolts.
I'm pretty sure that boulder used to be ON one of the routes over there at New Jack.
