4 out of 5 stars Excellent composition, something about the lighting could be better, but I'm not really sure what to suggest. All in all, a pretty sweet pic.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful. I love that you can see all of the contour on the rock. 10

5 out of 5 stars I wish it were a little sharper, but that's only because it's such a good pic. 10

4 out of 5 stars what's the border on this pic?

4 out of 5 stars 9- good angle, good expression, good lack of elbow :D

4 out of 5 stars Aside from the fact that it's generally a cool pic, I like the lighting, and the fact that the camera is focused on his arm as opposed to his face. Makes the move seem even burlier.

9 - Ditto on both of the previous comments.

5 out of 5 stars Woah. *10*

3 out of 5 stars 7 - Nice rock, but it's a shame the climber isn't in better focus :(

5 out of 5 stars I want to go home (From CA, stuck in MA for the year )

4 out of 5 stars The mountains are darker than I'd like and lack detail, but the sky is pretty unbeatable. Nice job - 8

4 out of 5 stars Awesome shot - it's like your eye scans down the image and it's very standard: rock rock rock rock climber water -- WATER? WTF?? *9*

View this Photo
Sorry about the quality of this pic - I'd love to get some high res ones of this problem eventually, but this was the best I could do with Bryan's disposable camera.

5 out of 5 stars How is it that no one else has commented on this shot??? The angle RULES, the guy's expression is grand, and the pic is crisp. 10.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars The color difference between the rock in the foreground and background is spectacular. I just wish it were sharper. Just for composition you get a *9* though.

4 out of 5 stars Great sky! (rock doesn't look so bad either :P) *9*

5 out of 5 stars Adding to comments I've already made to theshortspan's photos - THIS is the perspective I was talking about: a few bigger pics as centers of the image, with smaller pics that give context. Excellent.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars I really like these collage shots you have up, although there are also some gorgeous individual pics that I'd like to see as stand-alones.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars As I said in comment of another of theshortspan's shots, I like the collages, but I prefer them with fewer pics. I really like the ones with one main pic and a few shots down the side the give perspective. I think this one is lacking in focus where some of the others are much more spectacular.

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars I'm gonna stop commenting of all of theshortspan's photos now. But this one is awesome, make sure to check 'em all out.

2 out of 5 stars C'mon, seriously people - How does this photo have a ten? She's hot. Real hot even. But this is FAR from a spectacular photo. No offense to the poster, it's better than a fair amount of stuff on the site, but it's not a ten by a long shot.

4 out of 5 stars I try NOT to be the guy making comments about cute girl climbers in pictures, so I'm not gonna here either... unless I already did :P

4 out of 5 stars Really fantastic perspective - 9

4 out of 5 stars The action on the climber is great, but there's a little person between his legs :)

4 out of 5 stars Congrats on the sweet pic dude. Just bought myself a digicam as well, so keep your eyes open. You coming back to the U.S. during winter at all? (This is Chris, btw)

5 out of 5 stars I love how his shirt is exactly the three main colors of the rock, yet he still stands out clearly in the photo. Great job!

4 out of 5 stars I'm ain't no crack climber, but that don't look like no 5.7 to me.

(Clarification - it looks way harder to me)

Does anyone know what this climb is called or what it goes at? I've worked it a couple times, and it's the only thing at Quincy that still holds my interest. PM me if you have info on it.

I didn't see this before the completely silouetted version was submitted, so I can't speak to the change, but this version freakin' rocks.

4 out of 5 stars Perspective is rad, but I hear where people are coming from about the chalk. Can't help but rate the pic high though!

5 out of 5 stars This girl must be getting a helluvan ego boost if she ever cruises the site.

5 out of 5 stars That is a really fantastic photograph.

I think about this all the time. A really fantastic idea for a photo, although I have to admit that I'd like to see the same thing with a better photoshop job. If it looked cleaner, it would probably be my background right now.

View this Photo
This one looks cleaner than the last one to me. Again, great idea; keep 'em coming!

It looks like his hair is photoshopped in - I don't understand how his face is in focus but his hair isn't.

View this Photo
I hope I'm climbing that hard when my hair is gray (heck, I wish I were climbing that hard now).

2 out of 5 stars Voting a 10 on your friend's medicore pictures is not a good idea, they make it to the top of the list for a day, and then they get bombed into oblivion. The picture will end up with a higher score in the end if you rate it what it deserves. I am voting it a 5 because it is exactly what the description next to "5" says - average.

View this Photo
3 out of 5 stars This would be a really cool shot if the bottom of the boulder weren't chopped out.

View this Photo
Ew.

4 out of 5 stars Perspective here is really interesting. The depth of field is so wide that it almost looks like an optical illusion.

View this Photo
Dude, check his other pictures, I don't think it's a PS job.

View this Photo
He was chalking up, but it was pretty much just for show. The problem is one of the driest ones at P-tuck, and doesn't seem to get that much traffic (I don't know why, it's a personal fav of mine).

View this Photo
I feel bad for that guy. I mean, he looks like he's about to go for that chalk mark, but he obviously doesn't realize that someone just smeared some chalk on that flat, holdless piece of rock to trick him into thinking that there was a hold there (there's obviously not).

Is this actually in b&w? With the snow creating so much contrast, I can't even tell if it's actually b&w or just really muted. Gorgeous pic either way.

And here I was thinking this sh!t was standard fare in the Easter Sierra. Comments seem to indicate that I was awful lucky to catch this shot.

4 out of 5 stars Is that your reflection in the big droplet in the middle?

View this Photo
Nice job! I was able to get them matched up with the cross-eyed method ("your face will stick that way!"), but had a hard time keeping them in focus at first. I had to cross my eyes and get them together while far from the screen, then move my face closer and closer until it was in focus. It looked great then!

Now find a climber that can pose long enough for you to try it with a climbing picture. It might work really well with a macro shot of fingers on a crimper (where many photographers use a small DOF to create the feeling of depth).

View this Photo
Someone should pshop some crosshairs onto a copy of this. Come to think of it, you could make a black silhouette around almost any image on this site, slap some crosshairs in the middle, and it'd be instantly funny.

View this Photo
3 out of 5 stars I'd like to see more of the cactus to the left, but there's probably not much you can do about that now. One thing you could do though would be to up the contrast a bit so the rock and climber aren't all in shades of moderate gray. Nice photo all the same.

I'm with box84 on the suggestions, and suggest that ema pop a few valiums.

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars The texture of the rock vs. the texture of the trees is fantastic. The yin-yang effect created by the diagonal line between the two is spectacular. Without the climber, I'd probably still give this an 8 or a 9. With the climber, it's a 10.

Is the climb in the picture Sand Blast by chance?

5 out of 5 stars I just left Bishop. The snow line is a lot lower than that right now.

What time of year was this shot? I've only been in the Valley in late spring/early summer, so I'm used to a more torrential Vernal. Beautiful shot, btw.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars The one thing about this photo that isn't great is the obviously skewed horizon in the background; what's funny is that the actual climbing would appear even more impressive if the photo were rotated accordingly.

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars The way that the climbers stand out against the sepia feel of the rest of the area is outstanding.

View this Photo
Oh yeah, nice pic :)

Good guess scgreene, but to my eye those leaves look asymmetrical and toothed which aren't characteristics of eastern redbud. My guess is American basswood (Tilia americana).

Were you wearing a pirate hat in the original photograph as well, or is that was we call "artistic license?"
