It's about 75ft to the chains (John is about 60% there in length). Then the crack widens to a chimney.

A little perspective about the gear: the bottom section is thin, but one can place enough good gear to prevent ground fall. The section where the (totally hot) climber is at accepts a lot of good gear. BUT, because of the body tension required (slightly overhanging lie back on small foot holds), it's very hard to place (and may get in your way).
Boulder Canyon grade is pretty inflated in general, but I'd call this harder than The Evictor (12c/d) in the neighboring Eldorado Canyon.
