Hitchhiking in the Juneau Icefield

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Hitchhiking in the Juneau Icefield

This was after attempting to climb devils paw and then skiing across the icefield. We basically didn't want to hike down the ridge so we called in for a ride.

Calling in to find out the weather report.

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Calling in to find out the weather report.

This was the deciding factor as to weather we wanted to find our way down Blackerby Ridge in crap weather or good weather.

Getting dropped off.

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Getting dropped off.

We were extremely confident in the fact that we were getting dropped off basically in the middle of nowhere, based on the fact that we would travel home on our own will power and knowledge.

Jumping a crevasse

Average Rating = 3.83/5 Jumping a crevasse

We were the first people we know of to circumnavigate this massif, but after crossing the ice divide we had to jump some crevasses to continue. It was so cool looking 150 feet down and knowing you were commited to jumping. Photo Credit: Rebecca Haspel

Rhino Peak in the sunset

Average Rating = 3.14/5 Rhino Peak in the sunset

This is what a sunset from an icefield looks like in Alaska. More specificly, this is from the last night of a climbing trip in the Juneau Icefield on the way back to Juneau. It was another one of those 'most beautiful sunsets ever'! That is Rhino peak in the middle. The picture says it all... words don't really do justice!
