Crescendo (5.10a) - Nelson Rocks, WVStart of the 2nd pitch. Dead vertical, the crack size and effort required, aptly correspond to its namesake...Crescendo! (Those familiar with written music will know what this means!) A great route, sustained crux, in a beautiful location! Photo by Mike Adams.

Bridge at Via Ferrata - Nelson RocksWalking across this bridge was the scariest thing I've ever done - this is the bridge of your nightmares. The rungs were far enough apart that you had to look down to see where to put your feet but you didn't want to look through to see how high up you were!

Misty MorningAfter following the Via Ferrata to the top of of the east fin with my daughter and following it north, we were greeted with this view. The mist and rain were moving down the valley so we quickly decended before things became too slippery and the thunder and lightning began.

Final moves on The FoundationJust about to throw up the left leg to a good foot hold. The holds are kind of slim at this point. Make sure you get your right hand on the good hold over the roof. Everything leading up to this is casual 5.7.

At one with the worldEnjoying the lower part of One World. The obvious glue-in bolts give this route away. Its the easiest one to identify on this wall. Everything should be relative to this one.

Cruxing on Piton CrackThis is the crux move on Piton Crack a supposedly 5.8. I think that its more like a 5.10b and runout at that. Good pro just below me but that's it for a while. The top out is spectacularly loose. You are on top of a foot thick fin 200' in the air! Oh and by the way, there is no piton! Photo of Jack Beatty by Bill Hieronymus
