Jay McIlwain on the Jugs

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Jay McIlwain on the Jugs

This is a well travelled problem on the East Rock. It is called "Firth's Jug Haul" and it goes at V0 or V1. Photos of the backside always look a little intimidating due to the angle. They are really quite fun.

Kyle - (age 11) trying his hand at an OffWidth, after reading a story about *pipeline* http://home.primus.ca/~dooley/climbing/offwidths/offwidths.html - - we "had to" find an offwidth for him that was close and could be climbed in Dec.

Big rock near Okotoks Alberta, fun little boulder problems. Easy to reach the top of both large boulders. Un-named people in the bottom of the photo.

before the pop..

Average Rating = 3.25/5 before the pop..

Me just getting ready to dyno the finish of the unnamed V7ish route at big rock. Didnt send, but worked the end dyno. Definetly one of the easier parts on the route. Dyno goes only at about V2. Photo thanks to Ryan Biffard (biff)

Me on the easy dyno finish to the long traverse with no name. Traverse goes at about V7, maybe a bit easier. I didnt send the climb, but figured I'd work the last move. Photo courtesy and by Ryan Biffard (biff).

New Route @ Big Rock

Average Rating = 3.25/5 New Route @ Big Rock

A difficult traverse across the north east side of Big Rock. This problem isn't in the guide book, so if you want some beta .. talk to me. I believe this is local climber Kevin Wilson, we worked on this problem together for about 2 hours. I like this photo because of the cows.

Preparing for Resurrection

Average Rating = 3.95/5 Preparing for Resurrection

This is Jon (jono13) getting ready to jump on Resurrection; an over-rated V8 that probably goes at around V6.
This is at Big Rock, which was carried by a Glacier and dropped in the middle of the prairies! (just look at the background)

I shot this photo through my sunglasses trying to give some mood.

Antri on the Warm Up Problem

Average Rating = 3.60/5 Antri on the Warm Up Problem

This might be called a High ball, but it is V0, with an easy top out on good rock. As you can see the landing isn't the greatest, but with a good spotter you will usually land back on flat ground.

Okotoks Big Rock

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Okotoks Big Rock

This is the Okotoks Big Rock, as seen from the parking lot. You can see the locals have stolen the informative signs on the blue frames. This rock is about 6 meters (18 feet) tall. There are good problems all around it.

Biff on Big Rock

Average Rating = 3.57/5 Biff on Big Rock

This shot was taken on Nov 23, it was -7C (20 degrees F) and sunny; perfect for climbing. This line starts on a couple micro ledges, and works up an awful face with the right hand in a tiny crack to the overhang. The over hang is about 3.5m (11 feet)up the climb and the landing is terrible even with a pad(large, sharp, steep rocks) it takes alot of guts to make the move over the overhang. My partner had to come spot me so there are no pictures of me falling .. sorry.
