dude, where is my crater?

Average Rating = 4.00/5 dude, where is my crater?

On the Mt Erciyes (3916 m) ridge in January 97. Although a retired volcano, it does not have a clear crater, it must have been a hell of an eruption.

Ooof Erciyes...

Average Rating = 3.43/5 Ooof Erciyes...

From the summit of Mt.Erciyes. The south west ridge is behind. Just at the left side is the top of the 'Satan Ramp'. We are crossing the Big Rock which is called 'Hump' by the local people. So the reason of the avalanches in the Satan couloir is obvious ;).(March 2000)

West Face of Mt.Erciyes

Average Rating = 3.25/5 West Face of Mt.Erciyes

One of the famous routes of the Mt. Erciyes is 'Satan Ramp'. It is the couloir(in the center-right of the photo) totally covered by the shadow of the rock which is at the left side of it. The climb is fun, in winter you have to climb closely to the rocks due to the continous but light avalanches. If you are a group of more than two, climbing with rope can be preferrable. During the winter the snow level can reach upto your chest in the couloir. (December 1999)

ridge travers

Average Rating = 3.95/5 ridge travers

Burak traversing the final ridge connecting the small summit to the main summit. Main summit is only 16 meters higher than the small summit, requiring a short but very loose rockclimb.

10.14.05 Edit: My old slide scans were not so clean. I decided to clean dust, fix color errors, and resubmit them.
