This exposed uplifted section of ancient coral reef on the Isle of Pines in New Caledonia seemed like a good idea to have a boulder on. The limestone was very sharp but extremely textured. Quite different than anything else I have ever climbed.

Here is an example of how the coral reef is uplifted some 20 or so feet out of the water. The wave action then undercuts the reef to create some awesome roof bouldering action. High tide is the best time to boulder though as the landings at low tide are directly on to a coral reef bench.
