Christmas comes early as NewbieClaus scrambles up her first-ever 10d. Woot woot!!

...Newbie and Kachoong brave the elements together on top of this classic splitter crack near Canberra. And yes, it was as cold as it looks!! BBbbbrrrrr!!!

Newbie makes it safely to the other side after bridging her way up the first section this super-fun 10d.

OK, it's not the going *up* that's freaky, but trying to walk forward when you're bridging...that feels kinda weird....Either way, I was happy to rope up on (and finish!!) my first 10d!! :-)

....a few longer steps for someone shorter.... Dave begins to wonder what will confront him once he summits the Nailbiter splitter on such a bleek day. Climbing on the leeside of the prevailing piercing wind, he enjoys the calm before the storm.

Kachoong floats up this 10d in his signature effortless and smooth style.

I did not finish this route that day. December 1998, thats me (attempting) a route a good few grades above what i could really do at the time (hense the toprope). Almost vertical granite slab, to me it felt as smooth as... well, something smooth :) this is the first picture i have put up
