This crag is a narrow gorge with a stream running at the base of the routes and creates a cool setting in which to climb. Part of a collection of pic's taken that day.Pic: Xander

The photographer Xander was about 20 meters above us when he caught this moment. Simple pic but I like it.

I could just reach the anchors to clip in. At this stage my forearms were pumped. The route is steep so a lot of body tension is required.Great route. Pic: Xander

True Sailing is Dead, 5.12a is a seriously deceptive route. It's a lot tougher than it looks. Pic taken by Xander on our recent trip to Fernkloof.

We climbed Strong Arm of the Law, 5,11c, at Fernkloof. This is the easiest grade at the crag and the route was really pumpy and steep. Pic by jcshaggy.

This is the huge chockstone that wedges itself in the centre of Grootkloof. It inspired the following amongst members of Exploratio..."Why do you have 150ft of abseil cord?...It's for the pro around the Chockstone...!!"

This is the sort of view you can expect after finishing a hard climb in the gorge. I do not mean the faces of your seconds, but you can always try and spot a good line on the opposing face while waiting for them...

Getting back to the start of your next climb can be just as much fun as getting up it, both for you and the rest of your party, laughing along and taking photographs of your prehistoric nature...(this is my friend Dieter and I)
