Early morning view to the west from the Grupo de los 100 hut. Weather was nasty and the previous night there had been a lot of powder snow, not worth the risk of an ascent. Beautiful views though. I love this mountain

This is the Ayoloco Glacier in late February 2004, photo taken from near the summit. It was ice the whole way, though lots of penitentes on the left side made for easy progress if for some reason you don't like steep styrofoam ice.

atg200 on top after climbing the Ayoloco Glacier in late February, 2004. Popocateptl sits quietly in the background - not smoking like it was the other times I have been on Ixta.

We camped a mile or so from the trailhead on the first day, and got this picture from just outside the tent.

Shot two thirds of the way to the top. My partner and I chopped a seat for a snickers break and I shot this over his shoulder.

This is the Iztaccihuatl (also called "mujer dormida" or sleeping woman). It´s located at the state of Puebla in México.
A great mountain and a great climb!

Bill Morris at the base of Popo's snowfield, with Ixta in the background. We had just descended Popo and were feeling the effects of the heavy sulfur plume from the summit. photo by shorty, 12/92.

I tried to solo Ixta in January. The weather turned horrible, and I hitched a ride down with a bunch of Mexican climbers. Thanks guys!
