Big Moe done the way it ought to be! Darrell Logan (45) sends it the way Bachar intended. Today was supposed to be a practice day, but the world lined up and he went for it. Fortunately i squeezed a little extra life out of my battery to cathch this and several other amazing pics

My buddy and I were in JT April 14-17 2006 and met a nice fellow who gave us advice on where to set up TR (he recommended Thin Wall). We chatted a bit, and then he proceeded to solo 2 5.8ish routes in front of us, then walked off and soloed Out for Lunch (5.11a). Our jaws dropped. Weeks later, after seeing pictures of him in recent climbing magazines, I've come to realize we met and watched John Bachar free soloing in JT. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. This is 1 of 4 pics.

Me on the upper part of Bambi Meets Godzilla. I think more Godzilla than Bambi. But a fun long climb in JT.

Daniel Zatkovich working up to the second-bolt crux of Stichter Quits, arguably the most popular 5.7 clip-up in J-Tree - it's located within walking distance of Joshua Tree's version of Camp 4, the Hidden Valley campsite. Photographed by Noel Doughty.

It was right after two days of rain so everything on Echo Rock was bombed. We found this pretty cool looking crack with no wait and that was good enough for us. It could be bouldered as well, but it is a highball.

The bottom section is easy with a nice juggy crack to pull up on. The top is slaby and becomes difficult to protect.

Raymond starts up a fun steep jug haul in Echo Cove. I believe this route is Ben Dover, but I'm not sure. It is the left of two routes just uphill from Classic Thin Crack.

Dave climbed stichter quits on a very windy day this march to record his first ever J-tree lead. He surprised everybody by making it to the top with that damn cowboy hat STILL on.
