Tim and I spent some time on a grey day trying to get through his mixed pro traverse but in the end we weren't successful. It's steeper than it looks.

This is me infront of the crag. We used a toprope anchored to two trees at the top. Trying to keep the rope out of the crack was the hardest part. It had a slight overhang and a nice crack for jamming. Overall a lot of fun for my first outdoor climbing experience. Photo taken by Joel.

This was a small climb north of the amphlitheatre area. I'm not sure if it's been named before, or if it's actually Africa. We were climbing there about a month ago, and it was my first experience outside of a gym. I actually really impressed myself, climbing better than I had in the gym. It took so long to setup, I only got to send it 3 times, but there were several good problems along this range. Photo taken by Joel.

This was aproximately the route we did, with variations slightly to the right and left. I really liked the crack jamming, and it had a slight crux to get over before topping out. We toproped this problem with a belay and anchored to two trees at the top. I'm really looking forward to returning this weekend to try it again. Photo taken by Joel.

Here's another view of the route we did. It was a nice cool day, and we went pretty early in the morning. The route had a lot of shale and the rock broke in my hands several times, so I'm not sure that anyone else has climbed this face before. Plus, there were absolutely no chalk marks, and the rock was pristine. A really beautiful day in Pima. Photo by Joel.

My friend Joel infront of the route we climbed. This was taken in Pima Cyn at the upper amphlitheatre area. This face was just north of the amphlitheatre, and had several routes we wanted to try later on. One, just to the left of the problem we climbed, had a big hambone sticking out, which would've been a great starting dyno move. Unfortunately, we didn't get any photos of us actually climbing, because we were belaying and there were only two of us. Maybe next time we'll take a third person and get some good photos. This is what happens when you get a little too used to hiking in flip flops. I made about a 6 or 7 foot jump, but left some skin on the bottom rock.

Thin start and big reaches make this a fun problem in upper Pima Canyon. Nice winter weather and good friends. George M took on olympus digital 122205.

This is a fun problem, lots of rotation to get around and up the tongue. It has evolved to go from right to left and exits high on the opposite side. Sonso45 took on olympus digital 121505.

THis looks scarier up close. The start is great, legs locked under the boulder, hands free. MK took on olympus digital 120605.

This squeeze gem can give you lots of practice in the brutish art of squeeze chimney. It's on the left end of the black rock. Sonso45 took on nikon digital 120205.

Sending my first v5, at South Mountain Park in Pheonix, AZ. A beautiful day in late February. I had been working this thing all day, but coming to the top out (shown in the picture) was giving me the hardest time. Finally on the last attempt of the day, I gave a primal scream and nailed it. Man, was I excited!
