Old Rag Mountain, of Virginia hosts some wonderful bouldering. The only problem is that not many people seem to climb in Virginia, especially my age.

Another bouldering photo taken near the summit of Old Rag Mountain, VA. Luckily, this is pretty much my backyard.

This was the route that shut us down at Old Rag. It took us an hour of bushwacking to find the wall, and it was nearly impossible. The climb consisted of three bomber holds seperated by about 7 feet of smooth granite.

Must have done this route a dozen times when I was still living in DC. Of the routes I did climb at Old Rag, I would have to say this was the most fun, and Oh My God or Report to Sickbay were the most rad. Never got to lead Bushwhack Crack though, heard that was a super classic. Anyways, this is the sort of stuff that made the approach worthwhile. Hung Li belaying. Note double chalkbags -- it was kind of wet and seeping.

one of the best routes at Old Rag- Strawberry Fields (5.9+) goes up 65 ft of perfect granite to a narrow ledge. I reccomend taping up any crack at old rag, but maybe I'm just a wuss like that.

This is on Pure Fun. This is the crux (and much photographed) part of the climb. High quality route.

Jeff leading mosaic(5.10b), a great underclinging crack with very cool exposure. the hike up is a little steep(but not super long, 2.5 miles), well worth it.

The view to the west from the top of the summit wall. Whew, we got out of there just in time before the weather got bad.

Me climbing some easy 5.5 next to the arborist... it was taken on March 8th. The weather was supposed to be 55 and sunny, but upon arrival it was more of a 35 and snowy.

After a nice climb, I sit down, whip out the water and camera and snap a couple shots of nothing in particular. Sometimes it works. Looking east from on top PATC wall.

This is me rappelling off middle sunset wall on Old Rag mountain. This shot was posed as to allow the photographer, Abe Gomez, to flex his artistic side with his 4x5" viewcam. This is a lower quality polaroid, I will post the real deal when we get the negatives back.
