Bouldering on a coudy dayMy climbing buddy and I went to McAfee's for the third time to do some bouldering. We headed towards the sumit and found a nice 14 ft boulder. We climbed there for 2+ hours on quite a few different routes!

First sit start! This is my first ever sit start! My friend and I we're hiking on the trail that doesnt lead to the peak and we found this nice 12ft boulder over the hill. It had some nice little crimps and finger holds! I ascended it about a week ago and couldnt get it. I spent about an hour trying it. So I gave up and went back today (10/18/06) and ascended it on the second try! I know I am a begginer climber and get excited when I do complete something even though it may be easy to some of you other good climbers!

Mcafee'sNot sure of the name or route here. It was our first time out at Mcafee's. Catawba Valley was even more beautiful than what we'd heard about it. Amazing.

Tough climb.Macaffee's knob is probably the best place in the area to go bouldering. I spend a whole day there climbing and still left climbs behind due to darkness.

Pocket Arete TopoutThis is the finish to the super-classic V4 Pocket Arete. This problem is located in the corridor area on the West Side of the Knob. The slopey topout is tricky, and has a bit of an awkward feeling fall.

Going Nowhere FASTMyself working the center line on the project boulder. This wall has three sweet hard lines just waiting to be climbed... the hold for my right hand is a tiny slot that I can only get the very very tips of my fingers in. The next holds are easily 4' up, at least 2 feet past where we have been able to reach thus far.

Micah Jessup sending FF101Micah hitting the opening move of Foot Faggotry 101. This problem is incredibly deceptive. Get those feet high or you may find yourself endlessly clawing the blank slab!
