High Exposure, Sept. 30 2006My daugter Ashley and I have looked forward to this climb for a long time and waited until fall to do this climb just so the trees would be turning. We were the first ones on the route that day and started up the route when the sun was rising and there was still fog in the valley.

Late fall view from High Exposure BelayLast fall we took a cold, but beautifully clear November day off work and finally found High Exposure free of the weekend crowds. As Noobs we had been working up to this all year - it was also our 10th Wedding aniversary (ahh....) so a very special day for us when we both led the final pitch. Picture taken from the final belay ledge.

Climbing the first pitch of High ExposureTwo of my climbing parterns on High E. Paul was on the lower ledge belaying Christy while she climbed past some water runoff on the 1st pitch.
(I put it in the Trad category because I wasn't sure where else to put it. The belayer trad climbed and then top-roped us up the rest of the pitch. I'm a newbie, so I apologize for any mistakes.)
The day was perfect - 38-40 degrees at the start, sun, very low humidity, and very low wind.

'High E' SaluteI'm climbing the third pitch of 'High E' and loving every second of it! The exposure was seriously the highlight of the trip, as evidenced by the ear-to-ear grin! Photo by Ichthyic.

Exposure, thy name is 'High E'Here I am eyeing a tricam placement around the corner on the third pitch of 'High E'. I love shots like this, where the subject is focussed on the task at hand, getting ready to place the bomber gear. Pink tricam, mmm tasty! Photo by Colin.

High Excitement on High E!This is me right before pulling "the move!" I did it a bit differently, by crawling on my belly, then reaching up. At one time, this was my highest rated onsight! Although no longer my highest, it is still one of the most fun! After every move on the last pitch, I would look behind my shoulders and smile! Awsome route! No wonder it's a classic! Taken on 5/31/05

Me tying in for the 1st Pitch of High EIt was unbelievably warm December Sunday, week before Christmas and it felt like we had the whole Gunk’s cliffs for ourselves. Even High E was totally abandoned, there was a first party gearing up after we have already rapped down and finished the whole climb...
