The Man. The Myth. The legend. The one and only Jason Ivanic high on Liberty Ridge. Few know of Jason's accomplishments. It is a pleasure to climb with such an athlete. May 27th 2005

One day window to summit, this was how Rainier looked descending on 8/15/04 at 7:00 a.m. -- climbers unable to view summit one day after Andy and I.
Cheers!

This is a photo of Liberty Ridge on Mt Rainier. The climber in the photo is Jim Johnson of Seattle. Jim and I climbed Liberty Ridge on 6-20-02. We bivied on Curtis Ridge and climbed the route from our bivy, back over the peak to the car in 26 hours. Long day. The route ascends the obvious rib in the middle of the peak. This photo was taken while climbing from the right-hand flank of the ridge heading up to Thumb Rock. We found good steep snow and a little alpine ice in this section once we gained the ridge. Climber is Jim Johnson of Seattle. Photo by Jason Cronk 2002.

Photo taken on the obvious steep headwall at approximately 12,000-13,000 feet on Liberty Ridge. We experienced a lot of good blue ice up there. Some was covered with a thin layer of sastrugi (wind-packed snow), approximately 2-3 inches. Good ice underneath. This was probably the best climbing on the route. Alpine ice cruising! Climber is Jim Johnson. Photo by Jason Cronk, 2002.

The gratuitous summit shot taken on Liberty Cap, Mount Rainier. It's just a short walk up the Cap from the top of Liberty Ridge. Then comes the long slog down the Emmons Glacier....Climber is me, Jason. Photo by Jim Johnson, 2002.
