OK, so the title has nothing to do with the pic, but I needed something to put there. This is me on a rather cool problem way up Fairangel Creek in Archangel Valley.

Quick someone get him out of there!! Well i wasnt daring enough to squeeze through the little tunnel that went under this boulder but it was pretty cool to see him wire out of it.

This is me trying a nice finger sloper and it would have definatly been cool had it worked. Maybe next time i will be able to finish this problem but this time only got 3/4 of the way up. (taken by coldclimb)

this is another photo that coldclimb took of me. it was extremely foggy that day, which i think adds character to the photo.

Well at least we made the attempt. Climbing in the clouds just doesn't work well, though. We couldn't stick to the boulders worth a darn, but the little stuff sure looked nice. Bailed after re-spraining my ankle, and paused to get this somewhere along the way.

coldclimb snapped this picture of me messing around. it was very foggy and damp, making climbing pretty hard. we ended up deciding to call it quits. fun while it lasted though.

Fred pulls into a short problem on a boulder in Archangel Valley. The day is May 22nd, and the climbing season has just started! Climb on. This pic was edited a bit to fix some mistakes I made in taking it.

This is Jeff (heelhooker) on one of the thousands of boulders in Archangel Valley. We never did work out this problem, but we sure had fun trying.

A shot of me on some V6/7 in Archangel Valley below the diamond. It starts on the lowest chalk marks you can see and bear hugs up the arete with a decent heel hook. Stand up start is about V3. Fun big move at the end! Good spot a must! Shot taken on a my digital by Libby (Todd' new wife).

This me on a V8 that Todd Helgeson put up last summer. It's called Muffin Man. It's a tough stand-up start on two flat underclings at chest level. You pull up into them throw a left heel up and do a tough deadpoint to a crimp. Set your feet and toss up to a sloper, then lock off and reach for the top rail. Great line. The Picture was taken by Todd on my digital.

John Borland (ColdClimb) dynos like a madman on this crazy boulder problem. Get a running start, and race up this ~80 degree fifteen foot slab. Fun stuff!

John Borland (coldclimb) stepping high and reaching for the fingernail crimp to pull through this unknown boulder problem on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I had just finished climbing with Doug Widdis (Polarwid) and found a few boulders to work out. A great ending to an awesome day.

I just showed this pic to my cousin, who somehow got the opinion that I was going for a certain look here, so I have to dispute that theory.

This is the summer of 2002. When we went climbing this day, we had no rope bag or tarp, so I used my shirt to keep my shoes clean while standing at the base of the climb. Because of this, it got quite soaked and muddy, so I borrowed my friend's (bigboulderboarderbinerben's) shirt as a bug defense. He's slightly smaller than me, so if I had worn it as any normal button-up shirt is worn, and tried to climb, all the buttons would have popped and the sleeves would have either ripped, or cut my arms off. Neither situation is good, so I rolled up the sleeves and left it unbuttoned. Who's gonna care at a crag where the closest people are little specks in the distance, right?

Then on the way back down, we were doing a bit of bouldering, and paused on this rock for our designated cameraman, Tom Borland, to take this nice shot with the mountain in the background. Now I am forced to defend myself because this picture is just too cool!!!

This is Ben Bates (bigboulderboarderbinerben) on a short slab boulder route somewhere between Archangel road and the Lower Garden of the Gods at Fairangel Creek, Alaska. This particular route is probably a v0. Just a simple short slab climb. One of the things that makes this pic great, though, is that it has my (ColdClimb's) shoes in it, proving that I was the photographer. :D
