First Time at Makapuu, Hit it up with 2 friends looking to get out and check the Hawaii scene after returning from Oregon. Had a great time

I like the perspective of this photograph. I believe this one showcases the setting of this climb more so than it does me.

To be totally honest, there are only a handful of routes here, but if you've never been to Makapu'u, here's the view you've been missing. Every time I go there, the ocean is the same beautiful blue. The sky is a different story, especially during the rainy season.

Although the climbs are short and the rock is porous, the half-dozen or so climbs at Makapuu have a world class view! Where else can you pull through a crux, look over your shoulder, and see many Humpback whales doing their thing? This picture was taken on the ridge above the climbs. Ah the islands...

This route is the leftmost route at makapuu. This is probably the best spot on the Island for afternoon climbing due to the very short hike up to the wall. Photographed by Julien Cayton

While on belay, Mindy carefully snaps off this shot of her husband, Brian Arbuckle, stemming up Route 1. The views are breathtaking from this crag and the rock is very unique. For vacationers, this is a great afternoon destination to avoid the hot summer heat.
