I FOUND THIS PHOTO ON THE SITE AND THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE FIXED. THIS PHOTE SHOWS MOST OF THE ORIGINAL ROUTE ON WHITESIDE MT. IN NC. BUT IT SHOWS THE WRONG WAY TO GO ON THE LAST 2 PITCHES. YOU SHOULD TRAVERSE RIGHT NOT LEFT ON THE 8TH PITCH. IF YOU FOLLOW THE ROUTE AS SHOWN YOU WILL BE DOING 5.9+ AND 5.10C FOR THE FINAL 2 PITCHES INSTEAD OF 5.6 FOR BOTH. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE, GETTING OFF WHITESIDE CAN SUCK IF YOU DONT KNOW THE WAY TO GO. IT COULD MEAN A COUPLE OF HOURS OF REPPELING IF YOU CANT TOP IT OUT.

This pic pretty much shows the entire Original Route. I marked the route in yellow. I labeled the top of each of the 10 pitches in purple numbers and the blue numbers give the approximate distances. If this helps anyone, I'd be glad to send you a higher resolution pic. mail me at matthew_gant@yahoo.

We were literally running for the top of this long, 10 pitch free route on Whitesides scary Main Wall in 20 degree weather on the shortest day in October.

Arno advertised this as a comfy bivy ledge. That's because he's German and not French. If he were French, it would be 4 ft wide and covered in moss, not pushing you off into f'ing space everytime you move.
