The beautiful Cala Luna.

Average Rating = 4.00/5 The beautiful Cala Luna.

I travelled to Italy to specifically go to Cala Luna because, to me, it offers the perfect climbing setting. The stuff I dream about all winter long. Steep over-hanging limestone situated on a white sandy beach. I loved it there.

Some beachside cragging

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Some beachside cragging

I think this is the right route, the grade is about right (around 6c+). It was suppose to be a warm up for Araj but given how baking the sun was, it gave a new meaning to "warming up" or was it baking.

Bouldering the start of the cave

Average Rating = 2.40/5 Bouldering the start of the cave

Since we only brought our shoes and harnesses to Italy my wife and I could only boulder the beginnings of these amazing routes. It was motivation to get stronger to come back and climb these routes. (My wife took this picture of me)

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Onsighting Il Guru, 7a.

The bottom of the route is a wide column with 2 rounded rock formations on each side of it, making it look like a butt and spin...

The depth and darkness of the caves contrast with the bright blue Mediterranean sea. Andrea in Araj, 5.11d. Photo by myself.

the 4 caves of Cala Luna

Average Rating = 3.67/5 the 4 caves of Cala Luna

In the second cave from the left is the route "Araj" in which ANdrea is photographed. There are few other routes in these huges caves (25 m high, sometimes 50 m deep=). Left of the caves is a overhanging part with short (under 20m) powerful routes (over 5.11a). Photo by myself! Minolta 600, Fuji Reala 100asa.
