K2 (Chogori) 8611m - the second highest mountain on Earth, cuts through the greatest concentration of some of the highest peaks in the world. 08 of the world's 30 highest peaks of the world stand around this unusual trek to Mt. K2. The apex of this incredible trek is CONCORDIA one of the biggest piedmont glaciers of the world. It is a spectacular junction of Godwin Austin Glacier, Abruzzi Glacier and Baltoro Glacier. It banks, 06 peaks over 25,912-ft (7900 M) within a short radius of 07 miles (11 Km). The walk to K2 base camp is a hard trek up and down the gorges, across rushing icy torrents, through broken rocks, over wire-rope bridges and through crevasses glaciers.
From Islamabad we fly over Kaghan valley, Nanga Parbat and the Karakorams to Skardu or take a 24 hours ride to - the district head quarters of Baltistan and a gateway to the great Monoliths of Pakistan. After final preparation in Skardu, we set off by jeep (8 hours) to Askole village and commence our exuberant trek (about 8 days) with dozens of porters on the trails to the Baltoro Glacier to the K2 base. we enter an incredible wilderness of ice, rock and sky. Our entire stay are in absolute wilderness, we will take a colorful part of the Karakoram culture with us. Our scores of lively Baltis and Hunzakurts who are tough enough to sing and dance after the hard days work. K2 Base camp is a short 4 - 5 hour walk from Concordia, nature's version of a highway interchange where several glaciers merge into the Baltoro. K2 has the reputation of being one of the hardest 8000-meter peaks. All its route are technically challenging, it is not a mountain to be taken lightly since the route crosses prominent avalanche terrain. It took more lives while people coming down after the summit. Therefore K2 is also called " The Savage Mountain". Base Camp is at 4500 meters. From the summit, you will see the entire Karakoram, including the Gasherbrums (I VII), Masherbrum, Mustagh Tower and Chogolisa.
Depending on the weather, K2 Peak can be completed in as little as eight weeks (From/To Pindi) or as long as twelve weeks or more. The return trip is often over the 6000 meter Gondogoro La and the beautifully green Hushe Valley from which you return to Skardu.
