We set up base camp in the backyard of Salvador's hacienda. Salvador Campillo is a spanish climber who married a local woman and earns his living by guiding in the pyrenees alps in summer. In winter he joins his wife in Dhaari and climbs Mali sandstone.

The normal-route on Wangel Debridu is an 800ft trad climb rated IV+ (about 5.7) and an ideal climb to get used to the rounded holds which are typical for climbing on this type of rock. From the summit we had a magnificent view over the vast desert plains.

Heinz, Paul, Hermien and I have reached the summit of this remarkable peak after one and a half day of climbing in the hot desert sun. One of the most remarkable climbs I have done so far!!! You can see the summit plateau of Suri Tondo behind us.
