The mother of all summit registers...Outdoor PVC, cable swage w/taped ends, textured rock paint, engraved summit name, pencil sharpener, summit log, pencil, sealed seams. Now if I can just not drop it into the Pacific... Only 10 parties have touched the summit in 11 years (spire is surrounded by the ocean).

Slate's Spire, off the Big Sur coast.Taken on the day of the first ascent. The regular route basically goes up the middle of the visible face, 5.5.

Spire in Big SurThis is me and two friends climbing Slate's Spire it Big Sur California. It's not much of a climb (5.4) but it's and intresing challenge (it sticks out of the pacific). We had to run out between waves and it is not possible to get down with a dry rope.

Poseidon Adventure, Big Sur.This is a 5.7 TR that follows the obvious arete/corner on the right side of the main face. It is more sustained than the regular route, but only a TR. There are lots of TR variations on the face, but this is the best one.

Wading out to Slate's SpireTide swells were bigger than expected, so we had to wade out and setup a hanging belay.
