After wandering around for a while Terry (okieterry) brought us to this wonderful chimney/offwidth. It was so hot but so worth it. Terry is belaying Molly from the ledge up top.

Molly seconding Elk Mtn. Jamboree with Terry (okieterry) belaying from the ledge up top. It was very hot this day but worth all the wandering around. The motherlode is an excellent place to do a little wandering.

Elk Mountain Summit Dome -berkly on belay, jason beam toproping the exfoliating summit route after he and I followed berkly up a new (cleaner) line on the west end. These flakes are no good for pro but they're hard to resist climbing!

Climbing the nose like feature on the arete provided easy access to top rope less secure routes on the summit dome.

Jason Beam climbs the original summit route. Thin fragile flakes feel like climbing on glass.

the left lip sticks out 4 inches and the lower half is sustained 5.8/9 up to where the crack widens and gets more difficult. It spit us off both times.

View from elk slabs. Sunny side boulder is far left, while fox canyon is just right of center.

View from the approach. Travel West from the summit dome on a large rib of rock north of fox and superslot canyon. Scramble down to ledge.

Once the hand crack is out of reach, place a piece and traverse out to the face and up to a stance below the fist/ large hands crux.

Looking across to the south side of the ravine from Fox on Rocks is a perfect hand crack. Sustained jamming.

This crack lies to the right of Fox on rocks. Looked like a nice line, but it was choked with dirt and rotten rock. Not worthy of leading.
