it is called misery ridge for a reason! after summiting we gazed upon the amazing view. smith rock group near the horizon and monkey face to the north. although smith is amazing climbing, the scenery is just as rewarding.

Mark Anderson jamming through the final crux section on No Brain, No Pain (10d), a jagged splitter on the west side of the Smith Rock Group. The well traveled Oregon Trail, errr, Wherever I May Roam is clearly visible in the background.

The crux pitch of No Pain, No Gain is high on the west face of the Smith Rock Group. Mark Anderson is working through the strenuous moves on the overhanging crack just below the bolted section.

This is phillygoat atop the 5th pitch of Wherever I May Roam, a really fun 5.9. Watch the rap if you do it- it follows a different route than the climb.

This is at the top of the really fun, bolted 5-pitch 5.9 climb "Wherever I May Roam." Just gorgeous. This is a great beginner multi-pitch climb, as long as you take care on the descent, as it runs a different route.

I really hate writing captions.. But according to the website rules I need to write 40 words before they'll post.. Hey I know, all of you bolt clippers should get on this route so you can feel like your getting that big muti trad route feel without having to actually do anything fun, like uh place your own pro..

September 2003, we are on top of the Smith Rock group, we were talking with Michael on hand held radios. He is that tiny dot on the trail, see him?
