chimney - perfect timing for a picture of myself

Average Rating = 2.67/5 chimney - perfect timing for a picture of myself

When do you get a chance to take a picture of yourself while climbing? Like never, except when you're on the way up a chimney, stuck between some nice sandstone walls. This place is in Germany, Elbsandsteingebirge.

Falkenstein glowing in the sun

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Falkenstein glowing in the sun

This over 300 feet tall free-standing mountain has tons of routs in every difficulty level (I was told 200 or so). Once on top you can enjoy an outstanding view to many other known places in the Elbsandstein region (Germany). It is one of the classics in the area. As we packed up our stuff the cliffs started glowing from the setting sun.

If you ever get a chance to climb in Germany, you have to check out the Elbsandstein region. A lifetime worth of routs and boulders are to be found there (sandstone), no matter what difficulty level you seek. This area, Bielatal, is located a bit away from the main tourist places, a true paradise for climbers with over 200 free-standing towers in this valley alone. The day was beautiful, a Birthday-climbing-day for one of my friends. Just as we got ready to pack up our stuff, the sun broke out of the clouds one more time to bath the rock formation in light.
