Adam gets the whole downclimbing thing a bit wrong.

Average Rating = 3.62/5 Adam gets the whole downclimbing thing a bit wrong.

Heh heh, no tricks, just as it looks, on the way back down I inverted and my son took this shot. It's a little grainy because he had set the camera to 400 speed but, it looks ok.

ajkclay's Home Gym

Average Rating = 0.00/5 ajkclay's Home Gym

It's a crap merged pic, but I wasn't going to spend more than a couple of minutes on it. Traverse wall, adjustable angle wall (with attachable hinged bottom wall - not shown) Campus board, punching bag and home weights gym. Metolius simulator hangboard can just be seen on the beam above the smiley face hold.

Adam leading Extra G Connection

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Adam leading Extra G Connection

Resting after the technical crux, I chalked about three or four times while pondering the next sequence... What a great route! Photo by Megan Cree :) this is my new profile pic.

ajkclay making the connection - Extra G Connection

Average Rating = 4.00/5 ajkclay making the connection - Extra G Connection

This route tests would-be leaders in a few different ways; first there's a technical and strenuous crux, immediately followed by a tricky traverse. From then on it just becomes overhung and pumpy! You're left pondering whether to place gear or conserve energy and run it out.

Tom, onsighting Golgotha on a nice warm morning

Average Rating = 3.65/5 Tom, onsighting Golgotha on a nice warm morning

A little run out to start with, this route is serious even though it weighs in at only grade 16, Tom did well to onsight it and keep his trousers clean :)

Tom Cree Deep Water Soloing on Backslapper.

Average Rating = 2.83/5 Tom Cree Deep Water Soloing on Backslapper.

Tom about to top out on his notorious route Backslapper, the route which he named shortly after he had one from the 10m mark! Heh heh.

Tom Cree Deep Water Soloing on Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Average Rating = 2.83/5 Tom Cree Deep Water Soloing on Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Not a bad way to finish off the year, Tom about to tackle the crux during our trip to Backslapper Wall in the holidays just after Christmas.

Jason Deep Water Soloing for the first time.

Average Rating = 3.43/5 Jason Deep Water Soloing for the first time.

This was my son Jason's (11 yrs old) time DWSing. Here he is at the top of Backslapper 10m (30ft) above the water and cool as a cucumber.

What more could you ask for after a great day multi-pitching? Coopers beer, the company of friends and a nice fire! Perfect!

Quang negotiates the first Moondance traverse.

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Quang negotiates the first Moondance traverse.

From undercling to a sidepull, Quang, not yet aware of the fact that he is being sandbagged, makes a nice looking span to negotiate the first of two airy traverses on Moondance, a great route at Moonarie South Australia.

Quang - now suspicious of a sandbag on Moondance

Average Rating = 3.67/5 Quang - now suspicious of a sandbag on Moondance

By this stage he was well and truly aware of the fact that perhaps a sandbag had taken place. If the fact that he was being photographed and video-taped didn't do it, the sniggers and squeals of delight at each move certainly gave the game away!

Adam bit run out on Moondance

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Adam bit run out on Moondance

Even though it's not from the formula angle for a good shot, I like the angle here, I think it gives an interesting perspective. Photo by Alex Wright, reproduced with permission.

I took this shot while resting from bouldering at Salmon Beach on the Southern Yorke Peninsula... one of the most beautiful places to just chill out.

Grrrr! Meg gets Feral on Pilot Error!

Average Rating = 3.47/5 Grrrr! Meg gets Feral on Pilot Error!

This is how you do it Tom! The Feral was full of colourful words for this route, most of which made even Lee blush!

Cool Angle. Adam on Moondance.

Average Rating = 3.20/5 Cool Angle. Adam on Moondance.

Taken by Quang, I like the angle of this shot. It's from below, but manages to give an interesting perspective I think. Despite being a 15, I rate Moondance as one of my favourite ascents; it's not always about numbers.

Finally happy on Moondance

Average Rating = 3.39/5 Finally happy on Moondance

It wasn't until about this point that I was happy that I had not been the victim of another Moonarie sandbag. This great route is a beauty for the grade, one of my favourites of all time.

Tom cuts loose on Pilot Error

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Tom cuts loose on Pilot Error

Tom wanted to give Pilot Error a go, so we headed up, and it was great! Tom found out what was meant by the term "climb it like a girl." Heh heh, sometimes height just isn't enough eh Gump?

Adam working a project in the cave

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Adam working a project in the cave

Adam tries to pull himself out of the water on slippery holds as he works an unfinished project at Backslapper Wall. Picture taken in about 5m of water, the camera was in a water proof case (hence the drops visible)

Stewy not looking at the camera for once!

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Stewy not looking at the camera for once!

Stewy leading Muesli, Boulder Bridge. Taken using AGFA 100asa speed in low light. I had to solo up and then brace on a small ledge for stability.

Megan looking cool as a cucumber on the Muesli Wall

Average Rating = 3.33/5 Megan looking cool as a cucumber on the Muesli Wall

This is a photo I used in a presentation on perceived risk and it's effect on performance. It was taken in very low evening light which I think allowed the texture of the rock to really show.

Tom Cree leading Mount Olive

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Tom Cree leading Mount Olive

I took this photo using Tom's camera. The amazing thing is that it was a "point and shoot" camera and the light was really low! It turned out much better than I thought it would, I was really just experimenting with angles.

Quang leading Clea Direct

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Quang leading Clea Direct

This is a pic of Quang on his first ascent of Clea Direct. The route is a great lead located at Boulder Bridge, Morialta Gorge, South Australia. A small roof provides an interesting crux at the top that can play with your mind if you don't have just the right piece of pro.
