The woman of my life

Average Rating = 0.00/5 The woman of my life

My wife and I on a hike. We really weren't climbing, but does that really matter when she's that smokin' hott?

Practice for the real thing!

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Practice for the real thing!

Only a matter of time before he's stealing my rack to go on his own climbing adventures! Only problem so far seems to be that he prefers Zero's and Daddy likes his Aliens. This might be a problem...

Riley in the morning.

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Riley in the morning.

No lie, it's not even 6:30 in this photo. You gotta love Alaska in the summer! A 2 1/2 hour hike to the summit, a little bouldering, a wealth of excelent views and a good night's sleep later, Riley wakes up to head down Mt. Jumbo.

Man, I wish I had mountains in MY backyard...

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Man, I wish I had mountains in MY backyard...

Juneau. What a super town. And if you like mountains, um, there's lots here! The prominant peak in the foreground is Mt. Juneau. Downtown Juneau is obviously at the foot of Mt. Juneau. The ridge running out to the right in the photo is Mt. Roberts/Gastineau Peak. Skyline in the back are the various Juneau Icefield peaks and ranges (Mendenhall towers and Rihno Peak being the most obvious features). I love my town! The town in the foreground, on the same side of the channel as the peak the the pic was taken from, is Downtown Douglas. And just think, it only takes a little over 2 hours to get to where this photo was taken from. All this and no traffic, smog, gang violence or freeways! What more could you want?

the only wall in town...

Average Rating = 3.50/5 the only wall in town...

there's really a lack of good rock to climb in Juneau. But for those who "know", there's this little wall that's about a five mile hike from the road. It's pretty tucked away, like a little hidden valley that only a few know about. It's worth the hike.

And this goes... where?

Average Rating = 3.00/5 And this goes... where?

I tried to find a nice line through this system of cracks, but it didn't work out so well. The tree I was planning to rap off at the top was dead so I had to down climb and clean. This was extremely challenging due to the overhang...

Justin

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Justin

Ok, it's not a 5.10. It's not a death landing. It doesn't even have cool moves. But it's a fun climb and it was in the upper 30's when we climbed it. This is Justin on lead with me belaying.

Some perspective

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Some perspective

Nick sets up the anchor on the 1st bolted route. To his right, there's the crack you follow on "lead it and win" and just off the frame further right would be "Pincushion".

A little further on the road to nowhere.

Average Rating = 3.67/5 A little further on the road to nowhere.

Should have turned around... Should have turned around... I think there's a lesson to be learned here, but I'm not sure what it is. I'm going to try to finda better line up this overhang.

Carcross desert

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Carcross desert

So there's this random desert in the middle of the Yukon. My wife and I stopped to check it out and take a few pictures. She took this one of me and I felt like I was a National Geographic photographer or something. It's just really weird because it's a desert but it's really cold and there's mountains you can see in the distance (not in this photo) with tons of snow on them. Not what you'd expect in a desert, you know?

Shiner Climber

Average Rating = 3.67/5 Shiner Climber

My wife took the shot and I wasn't there at the time. But this is Shiner doing a little recon in Chacos. Who needs stealth C4? :) Shiner used to be my climbing partner, but he went and moved to Idaho. Sucks, man. Maybe I'll have to visit him and climb City of Rocks...
