Hurry up - it's pumpy!

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Hurry up - it's pumpy!

Manu in "Lutzverschneidung". The route is only rated 5.10a, but it's a real pumpy beast. Speed is the most effective weapon to fight it. Placing a lot of gear from the layback position can easily throw you out, even if you onsight much higher grades normaly.

Placing gear in layback - hmmm!

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Placing gear in layback - hmmm!

This little 5.10a corner crack does not look anything special for it's grade. But it's an evil one. One side of the corner is overhanging and there are lot's of tiny pebbles in the crack. The entry opens up a lot and so you already did a tricky entry boulder, when it comes to placing gear from the layback position. The guide book even states, that enough people coming for the 5.13d sport climb in the overhanging wall to the right, have failed to even finish the supposed 5.10 warm up in that corner beast :) - climber: Manu

mangiari in

Average Rating = 0.00/5 mangiari in "Mi llamo Chris"

Me in a nice not soo steep DWS in porto colom. The route is exactly what I like. Some overhanging moves with not too bad jugs, a little bit tricky and psycho in between and good rests in the corner also. The top out is about 20m high, that was one of my highest DWS so far.

Afroman crux

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Afroman crux

That's the most far I got on Afroman. The next reachy move is supposed to be the crux move and it's not only reachy, but also the hold is quite tiny. As I did not even reach it when trying a dyno, I guess I was far away from sending it. BTW: Down there in the blue-green shorts it's the famous James Pearson.

Blocking hard

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Blocking hard

Actually I did not climb the route that picture is taken in, I just traversed the best part of the wall. The next picture for the result of that.

Scare the sailors...

Average Rating = 5.00/5 Scare the sailors...

It's not really climbing, well. But the shot was done on a climbing day at Cala Ferrera and Hey! I had to get back up the cliff, guess how.

sundown slot in between clouds

Average Rating = 5.00/5 sundown slot in between clouds

Standing on a granite mountain, in a slot between high and low clouds, with the sun sneakin' into that slot feels definitely special. Especially when you scrambled around in that lower clouds all day...

Abseiling Romsdalshornet

Average Rating = 5.00/5 Abseiling Romsdalshornet

How about some abseiling in sundown at midnight, the troll walls right in the background and a sea of foamy clouds all around?

And on we go

Average Rating = 3.92/5 And on we go

After having aided the roof, I could go on free. The rest of the route is also nice (it has a second pitch) but not hard any more.

Handcrack roof

Average Rating = 4.11/5 Handcrack roof

I thought it might not be too hard to do 3 horizontal moves in perfect hands, stick the shoe inside a handcrack and reach further. I was soo wrong. Here's a full view of the wall.

It's all about the feet

Average Rating = 3.25/5 It's all about the feet

It's all about foot work. So better look down instead of into the camera. The rest of the route offers careful climb in the crumbly pre-roof terrain. Anxious or inexperienced visitors cross left to the ring of another climb. But the crack in the roof offers perfect placement for a cam 3 or 4. Then there is the steep fist crack roof or an easier mantle-to-slab exit to the right. Photo by DirkiLD

Better place another piece

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Better place another piece

Better place another piece as my arms already start to be popeyed. Did you realize that this stone is 100% chalk free? People there use it sparingly and only wimps consider carrying chalkbags through ultra-classics. Third picture of a sequence of four. Photo by DirkiLD

And on we go

Average Rating = 3.00/5 And on we go

In this part the crack definitely offers the best holding. Time to try some hand jaming, what actually does not belong to my specialized skills. But as the wall offers lots of food holds, only a slight support by the arms is needed. Second picture from a sequence of four. Photo by DirkiLD

Hot up here!

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Hot up here!

Is it that hot or is it me? *ggg* Getting rid of my sweater in this beautiful classic. Crack climbing is not mandatory as there are lots of holds around the crack. First picture in a sequence of four. Photo by DirkiLD

Posing in front of Keltenwand

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Posing in front of Keltenwand

Me and my home posing near to Keltenwand, enjoying the awesome "Augustiner" from Munich. Maybe that's why I don't climb 5.13? I don't know how you produce jpg with 48K that do not look awfull. That's why it's a "climbing pic", sorry for that, wanted to have a profile photo that fits my style.

mangiari in beautiful mallorca

Average Rating = 3.38/5 mangiari in beautiful mallorca

That's me, starting on "Bofetadas de Placer" 5.12c (7b+). Unfortunately I just have pics from the very beginning, because the belayer had to concentrate later *ggg* I made some more meters, but didn't send it. Actually I thought to be in another route ("Charismatic") and expected to climb 5.11 (6c) Maybe next time. But I realy like the picture, especially the colors. I love orange stone!
