Scott Gilliam jams up the striking Labor Day

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Scott Gilliam jams up the striking Labor Day

Labor Day 5.10c is the sweetest route in the rock shelter area of the Bridge. Light rain put a damper on most of the routes this fall Sunday, but Scott found a beauty here! Photo by Mort Batchelder (mortb).

Paul picks a thin line for a warm up

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Paul picks a thin line for a warm up

Paul making some smooth moves up route with nice quarzite crimps. Rock City has many nice problems - this one had a bad landing however.

Paul basks on the sunkissed Boar Hog 5.12b

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Paul basks on the sunkissed Boar Hog 5.12b

Nice 12b TR at Cresent Rock called Boar Hog. A long reach low gains a good ramp up to the crux move awaiting you half way up. Probably has a few different ways to do it but for us it is a pretty long reach to gain the solution hold at the point in the A-shaped overhang.

Angie looks for feet on a blank wall under the crimpers that make up the first crux of this stout 5.12b as Paul shouts encouragement her way.

Mort on wave wall

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Mort on wave wall

This wall is shaped in a slight arching wave when viewed from the side. Very sweet line going up the middle and a nice airy topout. Anyone know the route name or grade?

Steepies in Purgatory

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Steepies in Purgatory

Mort pulling down on an overhung route at Pugatory, Michaux St. Forest, PA. This is a fun route with a few heel hooks. The inset shows where this climb is located on the outcrop. Anyone know the names of these? I would call this V2-V3

Dead in Hell (aka Mort in Purgatory)

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Dead in Hell (aka Mort in Purgatory)

Mort climbing a variation at Purgatory Rocks, Michaux St. Forest, PA. It is a line to the right of a small rounded dihedral with 2 small crimps that you pop off to gain a nice hold. Probably V3 or so. The dihedral has been done because it is obvious, however, this may be an FA, anyone know if this line has been done?
