Palisades Glacier

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Palisades Glacier

This is stitch of three photos I took in late summer/early fall 2004. The U-notch is visible just left of the horizontal snow band (ner the center of the photo). The V0notch is laft of that. This my first time on ice (thanks John!!). The U-notch was melted out on the right side, making it about a 70 degree slope (instead of the advertised 40 degrees). We generally stuck to the right side of the climb, but higher up, we had to traverse left, which required a bit of simul-climbing.

The Pee Wee

Average Rating = 3.25/5 The Pee Wee

This is the Pee Wee--a huge block that is clearly visible from the base of the route. The East Buttress goes just to the right of this block. We set up a belay at the photographer's vantage point. The next pitch is a wandering face-climb--maybe the only crackless pitch on the route.

This is Scott seconding on the East Buttress. This is pretty typical terrain for the route.

The ebersbacher ledges

Average Rating = 2.33/5 The ebersbacher ledges

This shows the "crux" of the ebersbacher ledges, on the Whitney approach. It's really not so bad, but it is exposed. Follow it about 30 feet befor cutting left (uphill).

The warm-up slab

Average Rating = 3.00/5 The warm-up slab

This is Craig on one of the amphitheater slabs (with Joon at the spot). A great beginner climb, and fun as a warm-up.

Self portrait with half dome

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Self portrait with half dome

I think I took this shot from the first pitch of after six (might have been uncle fanny or aunt fanny's pantry, though). It took a couple of tries to get half dome in the background.
