The South Face of Stenar

Average Rating = 3.00/5 The South Face of Stenar

The South Face of Stenar, a mountain in the Vrata Valley in Julian Alps, is not as popular as its east face. The climbs here are around 200 m high, while the east face falls 700 m to the Vrata Valley. I took this photo after my partner and I did the second ascent of Skoljka route on the last of july 2004. The rute is marked on the photo. You can find complete topo on: http://users.volja.net/relja/slike/skica-skoljka.gif

Rado leading

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Rado leading "Mala sola (Nursery School)"

This was my first route on that day. The name is Nursery school, which sounded more than appropriate :-). It is graded French 4b, but the crux move, just before the top would deserve a higher grade. Taken on 31st of august 2002 by Janja Slabe.

Janja on

Average Rating = 3.14/5 Janja on "Gnilo jabolko (Rotten Apple)"

The first two meters of this route are the hardest. If you manage to pull the first three or four moves, the rest is a piece of cake. Photo taken on 31st of august 2002 by Rado.

Like Flies on the Ice

Average Rating = 3.67/5 Like Flies on the Ice

This is definitely the most crowded ice climb I have ever seen. The slide was shot in january 2001, when due to the very mild winter, Tamar was one of the few ice climbing areas in Slovenia with some climable ice.
