Description:

This tower climb is above the Fay Canyon Trail on top of the north ridge. We began hiking on the rough road just north of the Fay Canyon parking lot and aimed for a break in the wall on the south side of the ridge (west of the paved road). A rough climber's trail walks up the grassy slope. When you top out you will see the east face of Lookout Tower. Ascend the right side of the Tower on left facing dihedral to ledge (2 bolt anchor) (#5s helpful). Second pitch has gear above bolt then a 2 bolt traverse right into a nice crack. High up the crack is an exciting face move on gear. Top out and gently use the pine tree for an anchor (lots of gear nearby too). Watch out for the HooDoo on top. Scramble or rope up for last 30' and rap off West face. Single 60m with two rappels (look for ledge on left for midpoint station).

Descent Options:

Rappel southwest face with 60m rope. Second rappel station on left.
