Description:

Although the lower part of the route is rarely done, it offers challenging climbing including the scariest 5.9 OW groove you will ever enconter. The upper wall is awkward nailing in flared slots that may someday see a free ascent.

5 out of 5 stars Magic Mushroom with Albatross Variation

PTPP and I climbed the Mushroom to the first penji (the one that goes left from the pinnacle) and went straight up on Albatross instead. The nailing was more like A4 in a few sections. The routes met up one or two pitches below the big penji right that ends half a pitch below Chickenhead Ledge.

Seldom done... no crowds. Lots of Heckling potential for the hordes on the shield.

Nice route. The supposed A4 pitch below Chickenhead ledge has had a belay established with belay bolts in the middle of the supposed A4. Did this one with Eric "Loose Cannon" Coomer and Amanda Tarr.
