Description:

Black Lake Slabs are at the southeastern end of Black Lake. Follow the Glacier Gorge trail past Mills Lake, Thatchtop, Arrowhead and on towards Spearhead, this trail will ultimately bring you to Black Lake and the slabs. The slabs are wide and depending on conditions there may be many possible lines of ascent. Most of the climbing is low angle WI2 ice, but when it’s in fat, there is some steeper WI3 ice as you move towards the right side of the slabs. The last section at the top of the climb, maybe 10m, is a steeper WI3.

3 out of 5 stars First ice

My first ice. Followed up a four pitch route. A short vertical section near top may have been WI3. Ice was very hard at this time.
