Description:

First ascent - Spring Break - 1979 by Greg Schooley and Terry Andrews. Greg led the first pitch with no bolts (bolts added later with permission by first ascent team) Start about 60 feet right of South America below an easy crack that blanks out where it joins an arching crack. Go up the crack and then over a hard face move to gain a huge jug then move right and clip a bolt before moving out onto a black water streak with several cool pockets (crux). Go up this and clip another bolt and belay in the large hueco -- a comfy belay spot. Second pitch climbs the corner above (awkward and kind of pumpy) and then go left under a big arch to a short little hand crack that leads over the overhang. Pull this (at least one hand jam!!) and belay.

We did this in two pitches with three people. it was fun. jenny hid inside the big hueco at the 1st belay. a fun route with a few hard spot, but good gear to protect.

sweet 2-pitch trad follow-up to the wife's incredible 2nd lead: a near-onsight of El Tesoro (one slip at the crux).

Fun fun route, nice crack for gear and such a great 2nd pitch, though I'll have to do it again to find that hand crack up at the top. We had to hustle out the first finish available, as the sun was rapidly setting. Beth arrived at the top just after the sun set; luckily the descent's not bad and the moon was out and bright! And me in my school shoes, too . . .

followed Rob's lead on this one, fun route, nice belay cave in the middle. Found my first booty gear (pink sling in good shape from a shady rest) below the start-belay!
