3 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

Off-route again! We thought this was "D-Slab", route "D1" (27 meters, 5.4) -- because this is my first-ever lead in the Rockies (hey! you gotta start somewhere!).
Even though "F1" is really short, for a beginner like me, it's challenging enough. Back on the ground, while I was stowing my rope, my partner said, "Duhh Daniel, that's not D1 (5.4), that's F1 (5.7)". "Well", I replied, "it doesn't have any positive handholds".
So we hiked back to D-Slab, and it was all taken by a day-camp. 10 children and 5 adults swarming all over the cliff. All laughing, all having fun.
