2 out of 5 stars It's ok

I wouldn't come to the cliff specifically to do this climb, but if you're looking for something to do it's not bad. The face moves near the top do get thin.

3 out of 5 stars Semi Rest Day

Good warm up lead. Gets a little wide at the end of the crack, then leads to face climbing.

5 out of 5 stars My 3rd 50 Classic Climb

30 minute hike, got to the base around 9am; there was a congo line, but luckily the party of 3 ahead of us decided to bail, so our wait wasn't too bad. A beautiful day, but clouds formed in the afternoon so we had to hustle off. Such a great climb, lots of fun. Crux is first pitch. I led P4 (5.8), traverse pitch, and P7-8. Walk off is weird--down the backside of the dome. Would have been super sketchy/impossible had it started raining.

5 out of 5 stars I said "yes"!

What an amazing day. Started out at day break. The hike from Upper Boy Scout to Iceberg sucked. Felt like it took forever, but maybe it was just anticipation. The "crux" to me was the hike/scramble from Iceberg to the start. It was so difficult and the altitude didn't help. Fun climbing, though. P1 felt more airy to me than the Fresh Air Traverse. Definitely simul-climb up to the second tower. The Grand Staircase was my favorite part--what a natural wonder. I led P2-4, P6, P9 & P12 (the last pitch). We unroped just before the summit and topped out together around 4pm. Doug proposed at the Summit! He carried a ring and a bottle of bourbon to celebrate! We wait for Jimmy and Gerry to top out off East Buttress and then head down the Mountaineer's Descent. There was still a large patch of ice down the gully but you can skirt it if you follow the cairned path to the climber's right. Down at Iceberg by 6:30ish and home at Upper Boy Scout just after sunset. There was only one other party climbing this route today and no one (other than Gerry/Jimmy) on East Buttress. My 4th 50 Classic Climb

4 out of 5 stars Crowded!

I think we were the 4th group in line and we had 4 in our party and this was on a Thursday! First moves off the deck are no gimme; roof off the first belay is easier than it looks once you figure it out. Traverse goes on forever--wear comfy shoes because I didn't and my feet were on fire after only going halfway. The next pitch is a lot of fun with terrific exposure. Climbed that day with Gerry, second group was Leigh and Jimmy.

3 out of 5 stars Not as fun as Phobos

but not a bad warm-up. First climb for the Tuolumne 2011 trip. First roof was tough for me, I got tunnel vision and stayed in the crack for too long.
