Hi Gang,
My partner has been swamped with work for the past month with no end in sight, so I wanted to find someone to partner with until he frees up. I discovered the “Partner Database” on gunks.com and found someone to go to the Gunks with within a couple of hours! It was great and very easy. You put in all your personal data, your climbing level, the dates you’re available, and where and what you want to do and it gets posted to the board. Then people respond. The really nice thing about it is you get to read other people’s profiles and see if there might be a good match. You can down load a picture, put in your age and profession, etc. And since it’s calendar based, it’s really easy to use.
On the down side, it’s a subscription service ($25/year) and the database is pretty new so there are not a lot of people on at the moment. But it covers the entire US and I would think the more it is used the more you’d get out of it. Anyway, if I could find 4-5 people to climb with regularly, that seems to me well worth the price of admission.

Wow, there charging ,used to be free.
But here's an idea, go to New Paltz and there's a restaurant called Baccahus. There is no better place to meet partners. Besides you can save your 25 dollars for very good eats there. :)
Another idea is to check out www.govertical.com , many locals in southern connecticut and westchester frequent that site, for partners at the Gunks. . :P
