http://oberon.ses.nsw.gov.au/resources.htm This is a really interesting site by the Australian State Emergency Service. The most notable part is the page called "VR Load Testing Wellington.pdf:" at the bottom of Vertical rescue. It shows the reults of knot testing--tensile failure points for different climbing knots. It also has photos showing the results of these tests. It's really awesome to see the actual failure points of different knots that we have all been using for years. The rest of the site is also very interesting and informative. All this testing was done by their government, so it should be fairly reliable.

That was an interesting read and was also some information that I've been looking for from a reputable source. Thanks for the post.

Yeah I've always had a hard time finding a reputable source for this type of information. Every climbing company publishes the strength of their biners, ropes, and webbing, but nobody ever seems to know the strength of knots--just that they're weaker than ropes.
