Hey there everyone! I'm new to this site, but I've been climbing for a little over a year in NE. I'm also an artist and I've just built a really cool new web site. In addition to my art work, I make beanies. They are really great to climb in, once the cool weather returns. To see 20 hats (with more to come), check out the "melon wear" section of my site. http://www.jghoel.biz

You are obviously a very talented artist! Great job on the site and your artwork. Have to book mark the site for more browsing later.

Oops, sorry. We don't have those rules on the other climbing forums I belong to, and it is a valid point. I've noticed many differences on this site that are much more advanced (spell check for instance). I'm guessing you fixed it for me, as when I went into "edit", it was already done. Thanks.

Jessica, Just some constructive thoughts about your work. Papyrus is the most over-used typeface in the world today, even if you think your project cannot work without it just leave it alone. I think you built your animations in FLASH; try to get back to more basic design ideals instead of highly used shapes such as the computer. Though you may think you have to work with easily understood concepts, try to give more depth to your metaphors. Good luck with your work. Check out my(our) website while your online www.utopiamag.com

OMG, I for one am thankfull that Jessica's site is not like this little gem. I found it difficult to navigate and waaaay too artsy fartsy to be of use to anyone other than those who created it. You are design students? Wowzer. Jess, I will be ordering a Melon Wear hat as soon as the cool fall temps roll around; count on it!

Actually, Edge and grayhghost gave me an idea. I should add an artist bio, so that people understand that even though my site is new, I am not "wet behind the ears". I got my BA in graphic Design in 1999 (I took 6 years to do it), and I've been in the industry for years.

Where did you get your BA at? What firm do you work for? What are some of your current projects? Inquiring students would like to know.

Sigh, I got into Early Decision, but couldn't afford Emerson College. I bounced around cheap schools for a bit (hence why I took 6 years), and finished at Bridgewater State College. I did work for SGM Advertising, Signature Graphics and Signs, The SCENE Journal, and Natural Color Lab. I'm currently self-employed, and working on some projects for Evolv Sports http://www.evolvesports.com/index.htm. None of the stuff on Evolv's site is mine. They have asked me to do banner ads and a printed catalog.

Edge, Your furniture is incredible, I have a set of Moser pieces that I just love and you seem to be along the same lines of simplicity and beauty(though some stuff strays into the Art Nouveau). Utopia is just an entertainment site showing our work outside of class, we hope to be a powerfull force as a whole when we graduate. As for the navigation, the FLASH format is new but it is gaining acceptance due to dynamic nature of it, it will just take more time for the public to catch up.

Haha..yeah..I've done a some freelance myself and those kinds of responses are soo comon. So..any particualr ideas or themes you want to use? Client~ "No..not really..you choose..your the artist..I'm sure i'll like it" (After a few days tearing your hair out for an awesome design it hits you and your so excited to show them....) So...here it is..what do you think? Client~ "Well...it's okay (thinking to themselves...WTF!!) Actually could we change everything?" Grrr......

In reply to: Edge, Your furniture is incredible Thanks. I wasn't trying to knock your website, I just think that Jessica's site is more appropriate for what she is trying to do; to sell her art.
