Next weekend, a newly commissioned work of art entitled "Untitled Boulder" by British artist John Frankland will become the largest piece of stone ever to leave Portland.

It is five metres high and weighs 100 tonnes. The boulder is being moved to the most beautiful landscaped grounds of Compton Verney in Warwickshire where Johnny Dawes and many other climbers will be animating it. This unique free public event is likely to attract considerable media attention. Other activities over the weekend will include a screening of the new Slackjaw bouldering film "Stick It", free bouldering lessons for all members of the public with little or no climbing experience and a discussion of climbing and it art with John Frankland and Johnny Dawes. Experienced climbers wanting to climb with Johnny should contact Compton Verney on this number 01962 645500.
