Five separate incidents of "civil disobedience" occurred at the Red River Gorge earlier this month when US Forest Service personnel tried to collect overnight parking fees. One of the resisters was a climber who cited the Red River Gorge Climbing Coalition website (http://www.rrgcc.org) and the info about court rulings against the collection of fees as the basis for his resistance. The other campers cited various sources as the basis for their non-compliance, demonstrating a growing awareness and maturing sophistication among the recreating public to this "Pay to Play" project by federal agencies. The Forest Service noted this was a new trend they have not seen before at the Red River Gorge. Source: the access fund newsletter.
