Hi Folks,
When I hold the picks of my old-style Nomic tools and pull hard up or down, the tip of the pick shifts about 1-2 mm. The picks shift with two different tool handles and several different picks. Bolts are tight.
Normal or problem?

My old BD Vipers have the same problem. I think that's just what happens when the tools get old, but I do not know for sure.
Try taking the picks off and give the head of the tool a thorough cleaning. Pay particular attention to the surface that mates with the pick and clean off any rust or debris. Also examine the bolts to see if there is any deformation in the threads.
It might not fix the problem, but hopefully will give you a better idea of what is causing it. If you can, take it in to a shop and compare it to a brand new tool.
I am interested to hear other people's ideas as well.

My guess is the bolts are worn. I would take your picks off and see how worn the bolts are. Check to see how tightly they fit into the pick, and into the head of the tool.
Might be time for some new picks and bolts.

Huh, deffantly not normal. I have two set of older Nomics and niether has any pick shift.
I would dissasemble and see if there is something ovious going on.
