Where can I find stuff for this like the booms and such, or should I try to make my own?

What do you all think?

Also what do you think the most comfortable harness to hang in on those shoots would be?

Any ideas?

most comfortable harness: industrial versions.
booms: never used. Never needed. Try to make it yourself?

Check out this article on Simon Carter who is a world famous climbing photog.
http://www.chockstone.org/Interviews/SCarter.htm
He has got a huge aluminium a frame boom made up and has only used it once or twice. He advocates using the rope and lenses as well as natural features for positioning.

If you are going to be hanging around for too long then you should consider getting yourself a bosuns chair or other such device to sit in or on so that you don`t end up with permanent injuries of the extremeties or worse.

Start with a Yates Big Wall harness... if you'll be sitting for really long periods, get one of those belay chairs.

I read somewhere that Simon Carter doesn't use that Aluminum frame very much any more. He finds it combersome and a lot of toil. He much prefers being mobile and using antural features. At least that is what I read....I could be wrong.

Refer to link in my reply in this thread. Simon Carter does indeed advocate using natural features to position himself for the shot.
