I recently participated in a USA Climbing comp. Having never seen or heard of one before, I decided to check one out. I arived to find way to many participants for the size of the gym. Since they weren't going by a free-for-all format you had to wait in line in order to attempt a problem. I waited in one line for 20 minutes! What the hell is up with that, how can they expect anyone to send the higher grade problems; I haven't met too many people who onsight V7. Now I realize that this format allows those who cant fend for themselves a chance to get in on some of the problems, but the world is not fair. Is cheating so wide spread that we need judges for every single climber, what ever happened to peer review? I was wondering if any other adults have dealt with this? Are USA comps always so crowded? Im really worried because the next USA comp is a lead based and I can only imagine how long the lines are gonna be. BTW, i'd like to say a big thanks to all competition route setters. You guys rock!
