The first-ever MAMMUT SENDFEST is a climber's festival and world-caliber competition in Salt Lake City. Rock climbing stars from all over will battle the boulder problems in a quest for cash and glory, but there will also be events for all ages and abilities. In addition to the competition there will be film screenings, a slackline demo and plenty of food, drinks, music and prizes. The show is on Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13, at The Front Climbing Club, and everyone is invited to come watch the climbing sports action. The MAMMUT SENDFEST promises to be among the best climbing events in the U.S. this year. Held during the Outdoor Retailer tradeshow, the largest annual gathering of the outdoor industry, the event will be attended by top athletes and plenty of industry VIPs. As with previous competitions on OR weekend, the MAMMUT SENDFEST will blend hardcore climbing with crowd appeal, producing an incredible show for climbers and non-climbers alike.
Climbers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to compete in the MAMMUT SENDFEST. Problems of all grades and styles will be set, and three climbing events will be held, a Pro Bouldering Comp, a Citizen Comp, and a Dyno Comp. The Pro Bouldering Comp has two rounds; Qualifiers on Friday and Finals on Saturday, with four problems per round. Competitors get five minutes to get as far as possible with points awarded per hold. The Citizen Comp has two separate three-hour sessions, for Youth and Adults, and both feature 50 problems of all styles and grades and a competitor’s score is the sum of their best five sends. The Dyno Comp will be held after the Pro Bouldering Finals, and will show off the amazing leaps and tricks of the best dyno specialists in the country.
The world premiere of Karma will be held Friday night after the Pro Bouldering Qualifiers. It’s a story about Adam Stack and Tim Kemple and their climbing trip to Nepal. Surrounded by breath-taking scenery they meet some local kids and teach them how to boulder, making many new friends in the process. The screening is open to the public and the $15 tickets include food, drinks and a raffle ticket.
USA Climbing is the national governing body of climbing in the US, and the MAMMUT SENDFEST is a sanctioned USAC Exhibition. Throughout the weekend we’ll host a silent auction and raffle benefiting the US Climbing Team. The money raised will help send the US Climbing Team to represent us at international World Cups and the World Championships. All USA Climbing members will also receive a discount off the competitor entrance fees.
The Front Climbing Club is Utah’s premier bouldering gym and regularly hosts national-caliber climbing competitions. In addition to hosting events, the gym offers a wide variety of youth and adult programs. All members of The Front get 50% off competitor and spectator fees at the MAMMUT SENDFEST.
