I was there, and the event was great : The routes they set were awesome for the climbers in all categories, the sponsorship and announcing were great and everything ran very smoothly. The 2005 US Climbing Team : MEN DIFFICULTY Ethan Pringle Vadim Vinokur Daniel Woods SPEED Hans Florine Patrick Cassiday Brett Ashton WOMEN DIFFICULTY Emily Harrington Elizabeth Broun Lizzy Asher SPEED Mykael-Ann McGinley Stephanie Outland Josie McKee Complete results can be found here : http://touchstoneclimbing.com/nationals.html

Is speed climbing really still a competition format? Seems contrived. Speed climbing hasn't really taken hold in climbing, with the exception of long climbs. No one I've ever heard of speed climbs single pitch/sport stuff.

I remember seeing it somehwere, but the europeans had speedclimbing on a route that went at 5.12. I think it was also a couple years ago at the Touchstone Cup where one of the events was speed leading.
